How to Tell If Your True Religion Jeans Are Real or Fake
True Staff
Score! You found a pair of True Religion jeans at your local thrift store. Or through a third party.
Somewhere that’s *not* our official store.
But… are they truly… true?
(Yes, we’re running with the pun.)
When it comes to buying any designer brand second-hand, it’s easy to feel like you’ve hit the jackpot, but often these “finds” can be sneaky dupes.
Here’s how to check if your Trues are for real.
LOOK AT THE INSIDE LABEL
Typically, the inside label of your True Religion jeans should include three separate tags:
- A tag with the make, model, and care instructions
- The horseshoe (with consistent, high-quality, clean stitching)
- A tag with the serial number and country of origin
If you’re dealing with an old, well-worn pair, some tags may be missing as the previous owner may have removed them. Don’t stress. Missing labels alone doesn’t always mean the jeans are fake.
LOOK FOR THE STITCHING
The stitching on a legit pair of True Religion jeans should be crisp and clean.
Look at the horseshoe patterns on the back pockets. The stitches should also be consistent and follow the same patterns. Same for the rest of the jeans, like the belt loops and insides of the pockets. Any flaws or inconsistencies (like mushy lines) can be a sign that the jeans are fake.
LOOK AT THE BUTTONS
All of the buttons on your True Religion jeans should have TR horseshoe engravings. Check them from the inside of the jeans, too. The engravings should also be there. If they’re blank? Probably fake.
SEE THE BACK WAIST LABEL
The Buddha should greet you. Stitching should be clean… again. Anything else might be suspect.
CHECK THE ZIPPERS
The zippers of your pants will have a horseshoe at the puller. Real ones will also have a YKK engraving on the backside. No? Might be fake.
YOU KNOW WHAT’S UP
So don’t guess. Impress.
With a true pair of Trues.
