Our mission for this year's Black History Month was to honor the creatives that support our brand. We first brought this mission to life with our Blank Canvas campaign, which followed four Black artists as they explored a new creative process reworking our ivory denim hookup.
As enlightening as the campaign was, Black History Month holds much more significance to us as a brand and goes far beyond a marketing campaign. To better serve our True community and honor our continued allyship, we hosted a Black History Month Celebration for our employees. We began the celebration with lunch, followed by step performances from the USC Chapters, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. The event concluded with a discussion on art and self-expression from Blank Canvas artist, Devin Mercadel.
Blank Canvas
We prompted four Black creatives with a Blank Canvas and two simple rules—make a statement and make it count. We wanted to know, when there are no other bounds, no limitations—how do you self-express? How will you take something as uniform and classic as a jean and make it bold, different, and representative of who you are? The end results are awe-inspiring.
