CARING FOR DESIGNER JEANS

You found the perfect jeans to fit your look and style, and we know you want ‘em to last! With the right care, you’ll be rocking that designer denim for years. Follow these dos and don’ts of denim care to keep them—and you—looking fresh.

HOW TO WASH YOUR TRUE RELIGION JEANS

It can be confusing, right? You’re like, “I want to keep my clothes clean, but I don’t want them to fade, so how often should I wash my jeans?” Less than you think! Learn about wash timing and other tips to keep your denim at its best:

DO: WEAR BEFORE YOU WASH

Wear your denim awhile before that first wash to train the fabric to your unique form. Don’t wash them before you wear them or even after your first time out. Wear your jeans several times to help lock in your shape and make them truly yours.

DON’T: WASH OFTEN

No, your designer denim doesn’t need a full wash, rinse, repeat after every wear. Doing that can strip color, compromise stretch, and wreak havoc on your frayed faves. Only plan on washing your jeans every ten wears or so.

DO: USE COLD WATER

Keep your dark wash denim dark and all your perfectly colored digs chef’s-kiss right with a cold-water wash. If you’re washing jeans in warm or hot water, there’s a chance that they might shrink and fade, so cold water is the best choice to keep designer denim in all its original glory.

DO: WASH INSIDE OUT

One more way to protect color and style when washing your jeans is to flip ‘em inside out. Let the inside of your jeans takes the brunt of the scrubbing so the outside keeps its color and details intact.

HOW TO DRY YOUR DESIGNER DENIM

After washing your jeans, should you throw them in the dryer? No. Hard stop. To keep your denim looking as fresh as the day you bought it, follow these drying dos and don’ts:

DON’T: USE HEAT

Dryers aren’t jean friendly. Do you really want heat or tumbling to mess with your fabric or fit? We know you don’t, so nix the dryer. Just like hot water, hot air might shrink your designer denim, and those perfectly frayed pieces won’t stay perfect after all that tumbling.

DO: LAY FLAT OR HANG

Treat your jeans right by letting them air-dry. That’s the best way to protect your perfect fit, enjoy the color you love, and keep your designer denim looking and feeling just right. Either hang your jeans—by the loops to avoid creasing—or lay them out flat, and you’ll help keep the shape and quality just how you want them.

DON’T: DRY IN THE SUN

As gorgeous as your jeans would look swinging on a clothesline on a breezy, blue-sky day, the sun isn’t great for your designer denim. With the double-whammy of heat and possible bleaching, drying in the sun could leave you with faded jeans that never fit the same.

No, your designer denim doesn’t need a full wash, rinse, repeat after every wear.

Once you find your perfect fit, these denim care dos and don’ts will help you keep your designer jeans looking flawless so you can slay for years to come.
